A Sleeping Bear Dunes Engagement Session at Pyramid Point by Northern Michigan Wedding Photographer: ME+HIM Photography

Northern Michigan has some of the most beautiful spots in the midwest and Sleeping Bear Dunes is a beautiful place for an engagement session. But that’s not what makes this session incredible. It’s our couple. We seriously have the best couples. Period. Full stop.

Meghan and Justin invited us on a trip exploring the Leelanau Peninsula. This area of Michigan holds a special place in the heart of most Michiganders, us included. Many nights spent “up north” during summer vacations, enjoying the small towns and great lakes. Michigan is a beautiful landscape and we loved seeing Meghan and Justin’s favorite places.

We started with an in-home session in their aaaaaamazing VRBO (link here). We’ve written a bunch of times why we love exploring home spaces with a couple, but there is such a gentle contentment to the way a couple interacts in a home. There is a level of comfort when you are cuddling on a couch or making a drink with your boo that is hard to replicate in the outside world.

After that we visited HopLot for a snack and a beer. We enjoyed some wonderful live music and talked about places we want to travel to. After that we visited Fishtown in Leland, MI and explored the historic district.

Then we ended the night with a hike out to Pyramid Point in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to watch the sunset. After the sun went down we spent another hour talking about love and marriage, God, overcoming obstacles, the purpose of life and most importantly how “cat-bear” is a better name for wolverines than “wolverine.”

P.S. – FYI. You can satiate the burning anger of a raging cat-bear with a simple caprese salad. Don’t leave home without one kids!
