Frank+Suzy // After Wedding Session

COUPLES ELOPEMENTS WEDDINGS

Huge News Flash: There are only 24 hours in a day.

Most days that’s no biggie, other days it seems like even that is way too long. But on your wedding day it seems like only having 24 hours in a day is a personal attack on your everloving joy.

We get it too. Sometimes the reality of wedding planning and your timeline slaps your dreams in the face and not everything goes perfectly. Or because of your venue or weather or a million other things you’re forced to take pictures during less than ideal light. Or you want to go to a beautiful location for your portraits and it’s just too far from the ceremony or reception venue.

A lot of couples ask us what an after wedding session is and how they work? Basically we get all snazzy and dressed up again after the wedding, go somewhere stunningly beautiful and take some amazing photos without all the stress of the wedding day (like for instance having to be anywhere on time). If you considered an elopement when you were planning your wedding because you wanted to go somewhere incredible and special that is just for you two, but ultimately decided to have a more traditional wedding venue so you could have your family and friends surrounding you and celebrating with you, then do what Frank and Suzy did. Well not exactly what they did (they got their photos taken at a photography workshop)… You do you.

Our entire goal is to help you make every part of this extraordinary time in your life special and personal. Once life kicks back into high gear the memories of these moments will fill your hearts (and walls) with love.

Hi! You photographed my friends' wedding, Tim and Shannon Sheffer! I'm now wanting to inquire about my potentially my best friend's wedding! She's getting married October 21, in Kalamazoo.

A wedding is a beautiful thing and it's both the culmination and the beginning of so many tiny moments. Some of those moments happen years in advance: the first date, the first kiss, the first "I love you." Others, happen later. But the wedding is unique among all these things. The first kiss is only the first of many. The last time you laugh together is the last of many times. A wedding happens once and that means everything that happens on your wedding day is superbly special. A once in a lifetime event, and every single second of that day is special and beautiful. That flutter. That nervous energy. The quickness and the euphoria ...

Shannon and Tim are what we call in the business: "Totally super awesome." ¬†It's a bit of a technical term, but basically it means that they were completely up for anything we suggested, including imitating E.T. with a blanket (not pictured below because that was a really dumb¬†idea on our part). It's a rare quality¬†to have a couple so unfussy and ready to try new things, but for some reason we attract them like flies to something gross (EDITOR'S NOTE: update this analogy! :-)). It also doesn't hurt if they¬†are¬†genuinely funny, honest and¬†gorgeous, which they totally are. ¬†CCCCCOOOMBO!   ...

One of the worst things that happens to us is when a client cancels on us.  Every wedding matters, no matter how small or how big.  We firmly believe that.  We also firmly believe that we have to pay our rent.  So when a client does cancel, it really bums us out (because aforementioned bills).  But it also means that we get an opportunity to do a something really special for someone.  The way our contracts are written, if a client cancels within a certain period of time before the wedding we keep their deposit.  We usually book 12 or more months in advance, so its almost impossible to re-book a date.  So we decided a while ago that if we had ...
